Well, it’s that time of year again. The holidays are just around the corner, and fall is in full swing. This season is when we naturally reach for long sleeves, cozy layers, and richer tones in our closet. As I mentioned in my previous article, this year’s fall palette includes warm browns, deep greens, bold scarlets, rich reds, sophisticated blues, as well as purples and burgundies, which gives us a great foundation to work with—but what about dressing for the holidays?

  1. Start in your closet. Look for festive colors that go beyond the traditional red and green. Think deep oranges, jewel tones, metallics, and sequins.

  2. Try embellished or embroidered jeans or jeans with grommets, which can instantly feel celebratory. A great belt—whether suede, patent, or metallic—can transform your look. If you own satin pants, start there and build around them by mixing textures: a woven top, a patterned blouse, or something in silk charmeuse.

  3. This is also the perfect time to check your accessories. Scarves are trending shorter this season, making them an easy way to refresh an outfit. Anything metallic—gold, silver, or bronze—adds a finishing touch, as do festive brooches (a wonderful detail that often gets overlooked).

  4. Let’s not overlook shoes. Whether a simple black heel, a sleek slide, or an open-toe style, the magic is all in the details. For the holidays, think embellishments—rhinestones, suede, satin, or even a kitten-heeled boot. Anything with a festive edge can be the perfect finishing touch.

Purple is a universal color that works beautifully on almost every skin tone. It feels festive for the holidays and can be styled simply with a tee or blouse, then elevated with metallic heels.

The perfect top to pair with leather bottoms or contrasting dark jeans— finish the look with a long fashionable earring.

A chic shoe is the easiest way to elevate a pair of satin pants, instantly taking your look from simple to standout.

I’m now booking appointments to help clients put together their holiday wardrobe. As a special thank you, if you mention that you’ve read this article, you’ll receive 15% off your first visit.

From my closet to yours,

Suzanne
